CORPSE ROAD

A cooperative deduction game with the senses taken, on the lych way.

A funeral procession must carry a coffin down the corpse road to consecrated ground before the Pall closes over the line. The road is five grave-slots, each marked by a bearer's number, and your crew has to name all five, reading only from the omens in your hands, before the clock runs out.

It's a co-op deduction game for 2–5 players, about 20 minutes, that fits in one small box.

The twist

The Veils take your senses, one by one. One bearer loses their sight and can't read the cards. One loses their voice and can't speak. One loses their hearing. What you know, you may not be able to tell the others, at least not the way you'd expect. The real game is getting the truth across the table in the dark, before the Pall reaches the back of the line.

How it plays

• Draw a Watch and deal its omens out among the bearers, held hidden.
• Each round, pass the Veils, flip the Pall's clock one step closer to TAKEN, and relay what you know through the senses you have left.
• Name a digit for a slot and reveal it. Right, it holds. Wrong, the Pall closes faster.
• Name all five before the Pall takes the line, or the road keeps you.

Built to last

Fifty omens are one fixed, numbered pool. The Book of Rites & Watches holds 80 puzzles, and the pool can uniquely solve almost any path, so no two roads feel the same and the book can grow without a single new card.
